Specialties

  • Emotional Neglect

Emotional neglect refers to what someone didn’t get while they were growing up. They may have had all of their physical needs met (food, water, shelter) and still feel like something was missing. As they become adults they may experience chronic feelings of emptiness or shame, consider themselves “people pleasers,” or have difficulty asking for help and relying on others. Treatment may involve processing, inner-child work, and learning and implementing healthy boundaries.

  • Eating Disorders/ Disordered Eating

Eating disorders come in all shapes and sizes. They are complex, often consisting of behavioral, emotional, and underlying layers. By addressing each of these layers, there is a better chance for lasting change. Many of my clients do not meet the full DSM criteria for an eating disorder, yet they still experience unhelpful thoughts and behaviors that they want to address. Change is hard, and ambivalence is a normal part of treatment. Recovery is not a linear process, and I am here to help you navigate all of the twists, turns, successes, and setbacks.

  • Emotion Regulation

Instead of being taught how to cope skillfully with painful experiences and feelings, many of us are taught to numb, hide, or ignore them. This is often the only thing we know and can exacerbate feelings of depression and anxiety. I provide a safe space where clients can express, process, and learn about their thoughts, feelings, and emotions without judgment. I help clients to develop more workable coping skills and habits so that they can move toward their goals and live in alignment with identified values. If "being positive" hasn't worked for you, you may be in the right place.
